The Costa Rica cross-cultural course is a pure general education offering that seeks to expose the student to the people, culture and ways of life of this amazingly diverse country.  The base of operations is a former Bible institute in the capitol city of San Jose.  Three excursions are included:  the Caribbean coast; a cloud forest; and the Pacific coast.  Students will also enjoy a five-night homestay with a Costa Rican family.  While Spanish is not required it is very helpful.  Many of the guest speakers are involved in service or ministry.  See the INFO sheet for more information.

Faculty Biographies:
Dr. Scott Weaver serves the college in the Department of Computer and Information Science teaching mainly web-related and database courses. Dr. Weaver grew up overseas in the Philippines and has extensive travel abroad experience to Spain, Rome, Ecuador, Cambodia, Laos, Peru, and others. He has participated in cross cultural trips to Costa Rica and Burkina Faso.

Mark Padgett serves in Costa Rica as a professor and missionary at Seminario Esepa. Mark grew up in Costa Rica, speaks fluent Spanish and has worked with this course several times before.  Besides Costa Rica he has ministry experience in the US, Nicaragua and Cuba.  He also is a facilitator for CIT (Center for Intercultural Training) a ministry that helps prepare new missionaries  from the US  adapt cross culturally in their new country of service.
