Program Description:
BIOL 290 Desert Southwest

BIOL 290 Desert Ecology is a survey of the ecology of the American Southwest. The course is open to all majors. We will liveBIOL 290 desert southwest
in the major desert ecosystems of the southwest from the Arizona-New Mexico Plateau and Grand Canyon, to the
Joshua Trees, Saguaro Cacti and Native Palms of the of the Sonoran Desert in AZ and CA, to the sand dunes and canyons of the Chihuahuan Desert of Eastern CA. Class work focuses on field biology with student designed and conducted research projects. Accommodations will be mostly camping. Travel will be by van. Dates- January 8-29, 2020.
