Program Description:

Newschwanstein CastleAn examination of the culture of Germany with emphasis on the Lutheran heritage, contemporary German cultural identity, and the cultural and historical significance of Germany. Students will live in German homes, receive German language instruction, and visit sites associated with Martin Luther. Students will also visit  Dresden, Berlin, Munich, Sachsenhausen concentration camp, Neuschwanstein castle, and Salzburg, Austria.
Estimated Course Fee: $4,500



Faculty Biography:

John Beaney is Professor of Modern Languages at Messiah College, where he has taught since 1987. Dr. Beaney has a Ph.D. in comparative literature from Purdue University and has taught French, German, and Spanish at Messiah College. He has led numerous Messiah College cross-cultural courses, and has taken students to Germany thirteen times.

Wanda Thuma-McDermond is a Professor of Nursing at Messiah College. She loves to travel and usually leads cross-cultural courses to Africa. However, when this opportunity was offered, she was delighted at the thought of visiting Germany.
